Today I am thankful for Time:
Doing a Gingerbread house, as a perfectionist, with two fast-paced, get-it-done, move-on-to-the-next thing boys, is very tedious. I want everything to be even and just right. They just want to eat the leftover candy. I want to to look balanced. They each want a side to decorate as they choose. I want a centerpiece... so do they.
Once I took a deep breath and put aside my expectations and desires, and let them decorate, it was a lot of fun. And I love the result, complete with the crooked peppermints and gumdrops in the process of sliding off the roof. But ever better than our gingerbread house was the time we spent together.
