A Midsummer Night's Dream

Morning has come and the dream is over. I am still rubbing the sleepy bugs out of my eyes. I have costumes and props still to take care of. And some one left their clothes in my classroom. Everyone had clothes on when they left, so I am not sure who they belong to. Then there is the catching up on everything else, as well as the emotional/spiritual stresses to deal with. Today I am very thankful that I only teach Kindergarten, because I could bluff through the day that I hadn't planned for. I don't think I want to do it again though. It is rather exhausting for me, and dull for the kids. It hasn't been long enough for me to really miss anyone yet, and my sister just stopped by to chat a bit.

After dealing with high-schoolers, I am reminded both why I enjoy it, and why I am glad that I don't have to do it all the time. They have so many issues. I want them to encourage them to be "older" and more mature, but I don't want to expect too much from them. That balance is so hard to find, and when I put my heart into it, and into them, they sometimes hurt me. They let me down or break faith. And yet sometimes, like with the actual performances, they see what I saw when I cast them. They met my hopes and dreams for them, and in some cases went far beyond. We all have so much growing to do, in theater and in life.

Speaking of dreams, but on a completely different topic, I had a crazy dream recently. I, if it was really myself, and my brother, who I am pretty sure was not my real brother, but I cannot be absolutely sure, and my roommate, who was no one that I know in real life were all playing this acting out mystery game. I didn't understand the whole point, because we only got one step at a time. OK, that probably was really confusing, but we, whoever we was, had to go to a computer console and get the next instruction. We had to get into different disguises and then complete the task. The last assignment I had was to go somewhere and deliver a message, but to get there, I had to go by "Fat Mama." Everyone said "Fat Mama" like she was a terrible threat, so I prepared myself for a fight. As I was walking along, all of a sudden, this huge lady, came bouncing toward me and tried to bounce on top of me. It hurt and knocked me down, but on the next bounce I put up my feet and pushed her so she bounced away. She came at me again, but that time, since she had more momentum, when I pushed she bounced even further, and I was able to roll over and scramble away. I had conquered the trial of "Fat Mama."

Please do not try to analyze this dream, or ask me where my dreams come from. I don't know, and I don't know that I want to know...

See you in two weeks

In two weeks, my drama group will be performing A Midsummer Night's Dream. Until that time, my after school time is extremely limited. Therefore, any comments are appreciated, but I probably won't be commenting much.

Happy Easter

REDEMPTION. by George Herbert

HAVING been tenant long to a rich Lord,
Not thriving, I resolved to be bold,
And make a suit unto him, to afford
A new small-rented lease, and cancell th’ old.

In heaven at his manour I him sought :
They told me there, that he was lately gone
About some land, which he had dearly bought
Long since on earth, to take possession.

I straight return’d, and knowing his great birth,
Sought him accordingly in great resorts ;
In cities, theatres, gardens, parks, and courts :
At length I heard a ragged noise and mirth

Of theeves and murderers : there I him espied,
Who straight, Your suit is granted, said, and died.
