Romantic Movies

For Valentine's Day, Thomas got me flowers and ice cream, and I made him a yummy meal (paella). We don't usually go out for Valentine's because everywhere is so busy and I like to cook special meal on occasion.

After dinner we thought we should watch a movie, and since it was Valentine's, maybe we should watch a romantic movie. We then realized that we have very few romantic movies. So we went through our list. Probably the most romantic movie we own is Casablanca, but (spoiler alert) the lovers don't end up together at the end.

Enchanted April and Shall We Dansu came next. Enchanted April is not really a very conventional love story even though three of the four women find true love. Shall We Dansu is more about finding what it means to love than falling in love.

Romancing the Stone is dumb. Phantom of the Opera is a romantic musical, but we didn't think of that one. Is Stranger than Fiction a romantic comedy? Then there are all the movies with romantic elements, from Up to Star Wars to Die Hard.

We ended up watching our Netflix movie - Rise of Planet of the Apes - with Thomas narrating. We had fun laughing together, so I guess we didn't need a romantic movie for an enjoyable evening.

  1. Yeah... we don't have a lot of "romantic" movies in our collection either. We have a lot of swashbuckling and superheroes and Pixar. But the best date movie is one you enjoy with your date. :-)
